

Surviving an apocalypse is as hard as succumbing to it. We meet a great many characters in this novel and all of them have a tale of tragedy to tell. It’s not only engrossing, it’s also emotional. Phew! The chapters that describe the world’s descent into this chaos of death and fear are superb. On one level it is a very good apocalyptic tale and, even though it is caused by disease, as one character declares, this is no zombie apocalypse.
